Natural Approach to Eliminating Menopause Symptoms
Menopause Symptoms are said to occur the 5-10 years around the age of 50 when women stop menstruating as they no longer have the “need” to produce offspring. However, perimenopause as a syndrome, or it’s set of common symptoms, may appear sooner than 40 years of age, especially if one has had a hysterectomy.
What are common menopause symptoms?
Hot flashes, night sweats, insomnia, anxiety, irritability, weight gain, and vaginal dryness are some of the most common symptoms that we see in our practice. Most of the women are on some sort of HRT (Hormone Replacement Therapy), synthetic or natural, which means they’re taking estrogen/estradiol in the form of pills, creams and/or patches. These may give you some relief from some of the symptoms if not all, but they also are associated with some risks including higher incidents of breast cancer, heart diseases, and stroke.
Natural Approach to Eliminating Symptoms
Chinese medicine is superb at treating perimenopausal conditions and it has done so over thousands of years. Acupuncture combined with Chinese herbs and nutrition is especially effective for challenging cases (more chronic, and especially those who have been on HRT prior) for hot flashes and night sweats. Lifestyle changes including yoga, tai’chi or meditation are highly recommended to soothe the mind, which also helps calm the body from all stressors of life. NCCIH Reference on Menopause
